Design For Change
Welcome to Design For Change, a worldwide competition that is forming the largest movement of children creating change.
The idea is simple, we ask children to design solutions for problems in their lives, schools, neighborhoods or communities. Children under the guidance of their teachers pick one week to carry out their project, document their results, and submit their entries to Design for Change.

Newport Lutheran Church has been serving the spiritual needs of people in Newport, Minnesota and those in the surrounding areas for over 50 years. Within the church membership roster are members of multiple generations from the same families. Connect this rock solid base in the church with the long life of Newport born in the late 1800’s, a small town south of St. Paul, Minnesota on the Mississippi River, and you stand on a solid “platform” to look to the future from.
Newly installed Pastor Susan Gravelle is doing just that. She is looking for everything that will strengthen the congregation and its ties to the community. With Pastor Gravelle’s vision, along with that of the church leaders, all agreed that Design For Change-USA was a perfect ally for the 2011 Summer Vacation Bible School. It is natural for a church because of its community service and “outreach” emphasis. It will also help all of us realize how small the world has become, and how important it is for all of us to do our small parts. It will unite all of us in cause while it strengthens each of our spirits.
